The only instruments that can monitor as well as measure cardiac vagal tone in real-time. You can you use the NeuroScope™ to demonstrate:-
• Baseline Cardic Vagal Tone during investigation of abnormal heart rate
• Proof of withdrawal of the Cardic Vagal Tone
• Assessment of the Baroreflex arc during clinical examination
• Assessment of Brainstem function in disease and in health

Currently heart rate is the only index used to assess or quantify cardiovascular responses to exercise or training. Heart rate is varied during exercise in order to pump a desired volume of blood known as cardiac output. A given heart rate can be achieved by either withdrawing the "brake" effect of cardiac vagal tone (CVT), or by increasing the accelerating effect of the sympathetic nervous system.
These two different mechanisms cannot be distinguished simply by measuring the heart rate.

Vagal withdrawal is less stressful than sympathetic stimulation and trained athletes often have increased baseline level of cardiac vagal tone above average, which they can withdraw quickly during exercise to increase their cardiac output without much stress.
